“Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” Psalm 119:18
Prior to my getting saved at age 28, I had looked for a source of all the correct answers for my life’s problems and situations. I finally found them within the pages of the Word of God. When I found and read God’s truths preserved in the King James Bible, I was amazed and convinced such truths and wisdom could only have come from God Himself. My eyes were opened by His Word to a whole different way of living and thinking.
The purpose of this web-site, and www.OpenThouMineEyes.com, is to relay some of His truths, so that others can also have God’s promises of Heaven and have a fulfilled, joyous life.
The following words from Clara H. Scott’s (1841-1897) hymn, “Open My Eyes, That I May See”, convey what God’s Word can do for anyone that reads it and believes it by faith.
- Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for thee,
Ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! - Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth thou sendest clear;
And while the wave notes fall on my ear,
Everything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for thee,
Ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine! - Open my mouth, and let me bear
Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with thy children thus to share.
Silently now I wait for thee,
Ready, my God, thy will to see.
Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!
Ah thru the grace of God I am back I hope as been having pc issues . Like this song but love Amazing Grace , How great thou Art , the old rugged cross among others as yes the old songs speak more of a message than what is sung today .
Bro. Bill, I too was saved at 28. I marvel every day that God would love me in the state I was in then and marvel even more how He has worked and continues to work in my life. God’s Word has the answer to every person’s problems and questions. It’s a joy to be able to share this with others as He has allowed me in the 36+ years since I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior. And on the subject of favorite hymns (I have many!), “What A Day That Will Be” holds a special place in my heart. I pray God will continue to bless you, and I thank you for these devotionals that you send out!
We must be the same age. I was saved at 28 and have been serving in a ministry for 36 years also. Wheww!! It doesn’t seem that long.
My favorite: In The Garden
Me too. I sing it every week in the nursing home!
It’s amazing how the old hymns can speak to you as much as the Word of God can!
My favorite hymn is “Footsteps of Jesus”
